Mottram Show

Mottram Show has been bringing people together since 1904 and is one of the region’s longest-running agricultural shows. Organised by the Mottram & District Agricultural Society, the show celebrates farming, rural life and the local community, whilst supporting our charitable aims to promote agriculture and education in the science of agriculture.

The Society is run entirely by volunteers. Many of our committee members balance organising the show alongside full-time jobs, family commitments and everyday life, giving up countless hours throughout the year because they are passionate about keeping this important local tradition alive.

We are a volunteer-run registered charity and not-for-profit organisation, and the show is truly built by the community, for the community. Whilst visitors see the show on one day, it takes months of planning and the support of hundreds of people to bring it together.

It would not run without the dedication of our volunteer committee, our show-day volunteers, exhibitors, competitors, trade and charity stall holders, local businesses who sponsor the event or support us through donations of prizes, food and refreshments, and the many other individuals and organisations who give their time, skills and support behind the scenes.

Most importantly, the show relies on the visitors who continue to attend and support us year after year. Without that support, we simply would not be able to continue this much-loved local tradition.

Following the success of our Spring Show earlier this year, which welcomed around 3,000 visitors, we’ve taken on board feedback from visitors, competitors and exhibitors to help shape this year’s Mottram Show.

A number of changes and additions have been introduced for August. Live music will return following feedback from visitors, whilzt the horse section has been developed with larger rings, the return of clear round jumping for horse show competitors and the reintroduction of a dedicated competitors-only area to help improve the experience for those taking part.

We have also reviewed the layout of the showground and made improvements to the positioning of stalls and visitor areas. As we continue to settle into our new showground, we recognise there are always improvements that can be made and there are already plans being developed behind the scenes to continue enhancing the site and experience for future shows.

We’re also continuing to improve the visitor experience, with new accessibility initiatives including a Calm Zone in partnership with Tameside Neurodiversity Hub, mobility scooter and wheelchair hire through Concord Mobility, a sheltered infant feeding area, baby changing facilities, accessible toilets and disabled parking.

A key focus for us is encouraging more people to get involved and help carry this tradition forward. That could be as simple as attending the show with family and learning more about farming and rural life, entering one of our competitions (including horse, sheep, cattle, cookery and handicrafts), volunteering, supporting as a trader or sponsor, or even joining the committee and helping shape the future of the show.

The Society is fortunate to have a mix of long-serving committee members who bring years of knowledge and experience, alongside newer members bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm and a vision for the future. Together, we have many plans behind the scenes to continue developing Mottram Show, while respecting the traditions and values that have made it such an important part of the community for more than 120 years.

Like many community events, keeping a long-running tradition alive requires continued support, commitment and investment. As a registered charity, all profits from Mottram Show are reinvested directly back into future shows, and we are committed to continuing to develop and improve the event while protecting the traditions that have made it such an important part of the local community.

Mottram Show 2026 takes place on Sunday 16th August and we would love to welcome the community to come along, get involved and help us keep this much-loved local tradition alive for future generations.

Tickets are on sale now, with visitors able to save 10% by booking online in advance. This year, we have also introduced a new Duo Ticket option, offering one adult and one child entry, making it easier for families to enjoy the show together.
